Skenderija workers' warning strike today, support from other unions also coming

(Patria) - The Trade Union of Police Officers, Civil Servants, and Employees of Sarajevo Canton has sent a letter of support to the Trade Union of KJP "Skenderija", whose workers are holding a warning strike today due to the newly emerged situation and the sealing of facilities, from 10 AM to 12 PM in front of the Youth Center.

The Trade Union of Police Officers, Civil Servants, and Employees of Sarajevo Canton expresses its full and sincere support to the male and female workers of KJP "Skenderija", as well as to the Trade Union of KJP "Skenderija" and STBiH, in their fight to preserve this company, jobs, and the dignity of the workers.

"We are following with great concern the developments that have led to renewed agony and uncertainty for the employees of KJP "Skenderija". It is particularly concerning that due to negligence, carelessness, and the lack of timely reaction from the competent institutions, the survival of one of the symbols of the city of Sarajevo, but above all the existence of the workers and their families, is once again being called into question.

Through previous years, Skenderija workers have repeatedly shown responsibility, courage, and readiness to defend their company when many remained silent. Their gathering and organization of a warning strike represent a justified and dignified cry of people who are only asking for what belongs to them – the right to work, security, and a future.

It is unacceptable that the strategic importance of KJP "Skenderija" has been neglected for years, while workers daily bear the consequences of irresponsibility and political bickering. It is particularly concerning that the warnings from the Trade Union and workers have gone without an adequate response, even though this is an issue that transcends individual interests and directly affects the citizens of Sarajevo and Sarajevo Canton," stated the Trade Union of Police Officers, Civil Servants, and Employees of Sarajevo Canton.

"We give our full support to all activities that the Trade Union of KJP "Skenderija" and STBiH are undertaking with the aim of protecting workers, preserving jobs, and ensuring the survival of this company.

We call on the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Economy of KS, and all other competent institutions to urgently take concrete steps to stop the further collapse of KJP "Skenderija" and ensure a stable future for this company and its employees.

We are convinced that the workers of Skenderija will not be alone in their struggle and that the solidarity of trade unions and workers will be stronger than all attempts to ignore their problems," the letter of support reads.
