(Patria) - An era ends today, as the production furnaces at the Lukavac Coking Plant, currently in bankruptcy, are officially shut down. According to officials, all preparations have been completed to ensure the shutdown process is carried out completely safely for the environment.
Despite hopes and appeals, no strategic partner has been found to continue production. Although workers were promised that all obligations towards them would be settled, around five hundred of them are left without jobs, embittered by the collapse of this once industrial giant.
Bankruptcy trustee Almir Bajrić assures the public that the situation is under control and that there is no reason for concern regarding safety. All entrances to the plant will be blocked, and additional security measures have been taken in the immediate vicinity of the complex.
An advertisement has already been published for the sale of the Coking Plant in bankruptcy as a legal entity, as well as all of its assets. The estimated value of the entire complex is around 200 million convertible marks.
