Olympic Games Opening Today, BiH Flag to Be Carried by Elvedina Muzaferija

PYEONGCHANG, (Patria) - The 23rd Winter Olympic Games will be officially opened today in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang.

More than 6,000 athletes from 92 countries around the world will participate in the Games.

BiH will be represented by four competitors – Tanja Karišik and Mladen Plakalović in cross-country skiing, Elvedina Muzaferija and Emir Lokmić in alpine skiing. The flag of our country at the opening ceremony will be carried by Elvedina Muzaferija.

Athletes will compete in seven sports and 12 disciplines, with medals to be awarded in a total of 102 events.

Particular attention is drawn to the participation of athletes from North Korea, who will compete together with athletes from South Korea under the same flag.

South Korea will host the Olympic Games for the second time, with the capital Seoul previously hosting the Summer Games in 1988.
