
SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The 24th anniversary of the crime at Kapija, which occurred on May 25, 1995, will be marked in Tuzla today.
A shell fired from the positions of the Army of Republika Srpska from Ozren killed 71 residents of Tuzla on the Tuzla promenade, and more than 150 were wounded.
The average age of the victims was around 24 years. The youngest victim was only 3 years old.
In 2016, the Government of Tuzla Canton adopted a Decision declaring May 25, the day of the suffering of Tuzla youth at Kapija, a day of mourning for the TK region.
Today, all institutions and bodies in the Tuzla Canton will fly flags at half-mast, and all media houses and organizers of cultural – artistic and sports events are obliged to adapt their program content to the day of mourning.
For the crimes at Kapija, Novak Đukić was sentenced to 20 years, but he fled from the BiH judiciary and found safety in Serbia.
