Damir Džumhur and Dea Herdželaš opened a tennis court in Goražde

The best tennis players of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Damir Džumhur and Dea Herdželaš, opened a tennis court in Goražde, which was built as part of the Fahrudin Fahro Baščelija Primary School, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

The BH tennis players were welcomed with ovations in Goražde, there were tears, cheering, but mostly laughter, and along with everything else – Dea and Damir also brought gifts, which they distributed to a class of children with special needs, as well as to other children.

The idea for the best BH tennis players to visit Goražde came from the school principal Ediba Bećirević. She hopes that the new tennis court in Goražde will be a training ground for some new Deas and Damirs.

The tennis courts in the schoolyard were built thanks to funds secured by former members of the English contingent of UNPROFOR in BiH, who were stationed in Goražde during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the opening of the court, Dea and Damir also played a short exhibition match, with thunderous cheering from the gathered children. They wanted autographs, photos, and even hugs from our best tennis players, who gladly agreed to everything, because, as Damir and Dea stated, children's smiles are what makes them happy and motivates them.

- I visited the school in Goražde today, where, in the company of my colleague Herdželaš, I experienced some of the most beautiful moments of my career – said Džumhur.

- I will remember the smiles of the boys and girls, their joy, and their thunderous cheering for my entire life. I enjoyed every moment spent in Goražde, especially because the occasion was the opening of a tennis court. It is a great honor for me to have been able to make the children happy, and I promise that we will see each other again soon. Thank you for the emotions and the wonderful day we spent together – Damir Džumhur wrote on his Facebook profile, and the best BH female tennis player Herdželaš wrote similarly.

- Not so long ago, I was also a girl who looked forward to meeting her idols. Today, during a great gathering in Goražde, I learned that I am precisely the role model for many girls who want to play tennis one day. I am touched by the emotions that the children of Goražde conveyed to us, and I can't wait to visit this hero city again.
