Compensation for the hours students lost during the strike of educators in the Una-Sana Canton began today in all primary and secondary schools.
Although they are attending classes today, neither the children, nor the parents, nor the educators are clear whether the missed lessons will have to be made up on Saturdays, reports the Patria news agency.
Unions say that the Government of the Una-Sana Canton unilaterally decided that children should attend classes today.
-Parents are resisting classes on Saturdays. It is a burden for them, and especially for lower-grade students. There is also the problem of their transport to schools, points out Samir Fajić, president of the Union of Secondary Education of USK.
Fajić says that there is also the problem of student dormitories operating, which do not work on weekends. Incidentally, one of the conditions in the agreement signed by the Government and the unions is an agreement on the method of compensating for classes. The union's proposal is that classes be compensated during the winter or summer break, or at the end of the school year – which would mean classes would end on June 15, writes usn.ba.
