Will Professor Zdravko Lučić be reinstated to the Faculty of Law after four years?

The University of Sarajevo will consider on Tuesday whether Professor Zdravko Lučić of the Faculty of Law will be reinstated to his position or if the decision on his suspension, issued nearly four years ago, will remain in effect.

This was confirmed to the BiH news agency Patria by Professor Lučić's lawyer, Almin Dautbegović, noting that he cannot even begin to guess what decision the University will make.

Professor Zdravko Lučić was accused eight years ago, along with colleagues Professors Bajro Golić and Fuad Saltaga, of participating in a sex scandal with students of the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo, and its department in Tuzla.

According to the indictment, the professors were assigning grades to students in exchange for sex.

Saltaga was publicly reprimanded after the affair broke out, while the Senate of the University of Sarajevo imposed a lifetime suspension on Lučić and Golić, prohibiting them from working with students.

The measures applied only to the University of Sarajevo, while the professors had the right to work at other universities in BiH.

In addition to the three of them, several of their friends were also charged in the same affair and faced sanctions.

However, a turn of events occurred soon after in the entire process. The female students who allegedly participated in this affair admitted that they had fabricated the entire story and that they had given statements about their involvement in the sex scandal with the professors under duress from the prosecutor.

In the meantime, Professors Golić and Saltaga have passed away, while Lučić is still trying to prove his innocence.

Due to this affair, which the prosecutors of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Tuzla failed to prove even after eight years, and which the defense claims was fabricated, Professor Lučić's health and reputation have been significantly damaged, writes Patria.
