Ćupina: We are the most successful sports collective in Sarajevo, but some don't even notice us

The Mayor of Centar Municipality Sarajevo, Nedžad Ajnadžić, financially assisted the basketball club "Bosna-Royal" with 10,000 marks. Some other sports collectives have reacted. The donation given by Ajnadžić to the basketball club is fine, but they are asking what about other sports collectives.

Dr. Suad Ćupina, vice-president of the University Karate Club Bosna and coach of the BiH national team, told the Patria agency that the University KK Bosna is the most successful collective in the history of Sarajevo sports.

- The club's headquarters are in Centar Municipality - says Ćupina.

- This is a club celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. From international competitions, UKK Bosna karatekas have brought over 100 European senior and 13 world medals. In the entire history, Centar Municipality has given a total of 17 thousand KM to UKK Bosna through projects.

KK Bosna pays for accommodation for ten BiH karate representatives who come from economically weaker cantons of SBK and HNK. However, when the University KK Bosna recently requested assistance from Centar Municipality for the organization of the international karate tournament Grand World Prix "Alija Izetbegović", they did not receive a single mark. Although the name of the late Izetbegović is used pre-electionally, some people, once in power, forget that they must preserve the memory of the most important figures from the defense and liberation war.

- UKK Bosna is also the most successful university karate club in the history of Europe - says Dr. Ćupina for Patria.

- This year, we cannot go to Portugal for the championship because we have no money. Even though we have competitors who are ranked among the European elite. Do I need to mention that all competitions are just a prelude to the national team's participation in the Olympic Games in Tokyo - says Dr. Ćupina.
