(Patria) - The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a red warning for Friday due to extremely high temperatures that will affect most of the country. Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 36 to 42 degrees, with even higher values in the south.
Citizens are advised to be cautious, especially the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses. Doctors recommend avoiding outdoor activities between 12:00 and 17:00, wearing light and cotton clothing, drinking plenty of fluids, and eating lighter meals with lots of fruits and vegetables.
“The peak of the third heatwave in BiH is expected on Friday, and until then the weather will remain stable without precipitation,” said climatologist Bakir Krajinović of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute.
Due to the high temperatures, an increased number of collapses has been recorded. Emergency teams are responding to more calls than usual, and citizens are advised to cool their rooms, use fans or air conditioning, and avoid physical exertion outdoors.
Although many are trying to adapt – by going to the mountains, swimming pools, or walking in the shade – many are hoping for a refreshment that, according to meteorologists, could arrive as early as the weekend.
Precipitation is expected during the night from Saturday to Sunday, while on Sunday a significant cooling will follow – temperatures will drop by about ten degrees. During the following week, intense rains are forecast, with maximum daily temperatures around 25 degrees, and up to 30 in the south of the country.
