UN's Grim Forecasts: BiH to Lose a Fifth of its Population by 2050

(Patria) - The United Nations estimates that by 2050, six Western Balkan countries will have about three million fewer inhabitants than they do now, reports Radio Free Europe (RSE).

Serbia will experience the largest loss, with around 1.2 million inhabitants.

In percentage terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania will lead, losing more than 20 percent of their population by the middle of this century.

According to UN estimates, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 3,194,000 inhabitants in 2023, will drop to 2,469,000 inhabitants in 2050.
