SARAJEVO, (Patria) - BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak called the flag of RBiH, which was in official use from May 1992 to February 1998 and as such was raised on the flagpole in front of the UN building in New York in May 1992, a wartime flag and a flag that symbolizes only one nation. Namely, Crnadak sent a letter to UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin regarding photos of the UEFA Europa League trophy on which the flag of RBiH was mistakenly imprinted, instead of the current flag of BiH.
"Namely, this is a flag that symbolizes only one nation, and offends other nations living in BiH. Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats and others live in BiH, and the flag on the trophy pedestal is a wartime flag, used during the civil war in BiH - from 1992 to 1995. The Dayton Peace Agreement from November 1995 brought peace, and BiH got its official flag in 1998. In BiH, all nations love football, but the wartime flag on the trophy offends many. I hope this is an unintentional mistake, so I ask you to correct the injustice before the final match of the UEFA Europa League on May 29 and imprint the official flag of BiH on the trophy pedestal, because the one currently on the trophy is not," Crnadak stated in the letter.
Crnadak also informed the members of the Presidency of BiH about this case.
