Montenegro eliminates Serbia from the European Championship in the final moments of the match

(Patria) - Montenegro's handball players defeated the Serbian national team tonight in the third round of the European Championship with a score of 30:29.

Although the Serbian handball players were under the imperative to win, as it kept them in the race for qualification to the next round, they failed.

Montenegro, which had already been eliminated after two rounds, played a phenomenal first half, constantly leading, and at several points had a three-goal advantage, but after 30 minutes they only had a minimal lead of 15:14.

At the beginning of the second half, Serbia took a 18:17 lead, and received a great boost after the expulsion of Montenegro's goalkeeper Nebojša Simić.

However, the Montenegrins then played as if in a trance, turned the game around, and in the 49th minute reached a 23:20 lead.

In the 59th minute, Serbia equalized at 28:28 with a goal from Nemanja Ilić, and then in the next attack, goalkeeper Vladimir Cupara saved a clear chance from Radojica Ćepić.

However, in the finish, Vuko Borozan scored for 29:28, Bogdan Radivojević scored for 29:29 six seconds before the end, and then Nemanja Grbović scored in the last second for the final 30:29, which meant that along with the Montenegrins, the Serbians were also going home after the group stage.

Interestingly, four Montenegrins scored 28 out of their team's 30 goals. Branko Vujović scored eight, Miloš Vujović and Nemanja Grbović scored seven each, and Vuko Borozan added six goals. The remaining two goals were scored by Vasilije Kaluđerović and Luka Radović.

In the Serbian team, Lazar Kukić was the most effective with seven goals, and Nemanja Ilić with five.

The Hungarians and Icelanders advanced to the second group stage, and they will decide tonight at 8:30 PM who will carry how many points into Group I.

The winner will enter the second group stage with two points, and the losing team without points. In case of a draw, both teams will carry one point into Group I.
