SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Cristiano Ronaldo is in quarantine in his native Madeira after his Juventus teammate Daniele Rugani tested positive for coronavirus.
The Portuguese striker (35) flew home to visit his mother after Juventus's 2-0 victory over Inter on Sunday in front of empty stands, reports Eurosport.
Serie A was later postponed until April 3, as the country struggles to contain the spread of coronavirus.
"Cristiano Ronaldo has not trained and remains in Madeira awaiting developments with the current emergency situation," Juventus said in a statement after the team's training on Wednesday.
Ronaldo will now self-isolate at his home.
Reports suggest that the entire Juventus team will spend two weeks in quarantine, which will prevent them from playing the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Lyon, scheduled for March 17.
Rugani, the player who caused a stir at Juventus, took to social media to say he was doing well.
"You have read the news, so I want to reassure everyone who is worried about me, I am fine," he said on Twitter.
"I urge everyone to respect the rules because this virus makes no difference! Let's do it for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for those around us," Rugani conveyed.
