- Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a complete reorganization to function normally. What the Bosniak people have, which is a majority in one part of the state, or the Serb people, the Croat people will also have to have, said the BiH Presidency member from the Croat people, Dragan Čović, in an interview for Večernji list. However, Čović gave numerous answers exclusively as the leader of HDZ BiH, which he did not even try to hide, writes Patria.
- Croats have always presented their proposals with gloves on to avoid the trap of interpretation that this is a division of BiH or secession. HDZ clearly advocates for the organization of BiH with four federal units - said Čović, adding that the civic concept of state organization is not acceptable to HDZ.
When asked why cantons are so important to Croats, Čović said that it is the only segment of government in which it can be said that they are adequately represented.
- Through two entities, we absolutely are not. Cantons are very important to us so that where we have a majority, we can articulate the voice of Croats - said Čović.
He also said that the constitutional-legal framework of BiH needs to be changed, and it is now more than clear that Čović will not give up on the division of FBiH, and Milorad Dodik, president of SNSD and RS, who said he has nothing against the establishment of a Croatian entity, has also given him support.
- I think that the destiny of BiH is to clearly organize a third entity or federal unit and for BiH to be a state community of three republics, three peoples who have their dominant territorial-political organization, and it is quite logical that decisions at the BiH level are made by consensus - Dodik said last week for Večernji list.
It is now clear that Čović, with Dodik's support, will do everything to further complicate the political situation in BiH, which is also shown by the non-holding of Federal Parliament sessions, which was requested by deputies of the HDZ HNS Club, and by avoiding meetings with the president of SDA, Bakir Izetbegović.
Čović went so far as to say "that more than half of the decisions are made by a different majority than the one in the executive branch."
- Thus, parties from the Bosniak left, SDP and DF, come to the aid of SDA and a decision is made bypassing Croats.
