Members of the Presidency with Director of the European External Action Service Makovec on BiH's integration

(Patria) - Members of the BiH Presidency, along with expressions of welcome, thanked the European External Action Service and Director Marko Makovec personally for their continuous assistance and support for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They reiterated their commitment to the European path, for which there is an absolute consensus among all relevant political actors.

They assessed that the granting of candidate status has given a positive impetus to all levels of government on the country's reform and European path. Taking into account the positive trend in the European Union regarding enlargement policy, the members of the BiH Presidency assessed that it is necessary to use the momentum to start accession negotiations with the EU.

Director Makovec reiterated his absolute support for the country's European perspective, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to the European Union. Positive momentum has been generated regarding the enlargement process, and it is important for a stronger and more robust European Union. In this context, he called for the implementation of reforms so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can start accession negotiations.

Speaking about the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, Director Makovec said that the European Union has allocated 6 billion euros for this region, which will be disbursed over the next three years. The goal of the plan is to bring the countries of the region closer to the single European market, through the reform process and regional cooperation, which will ensure the strengthening of the economies of the region's countries and attract investments.
