
(Patria) - Due to extremely high temperatures and dry period, the Civil Protection and Firefighting Service of the City of Mostar has issued a warning to citizens about the increased risk of fires in the area of Mostar and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNŽ).
Citizens are urged to exercise maximum caution and strictly adhere to fire protection measures to prevent accidents like those recorded in the HNŽ area in recent days.
It is strictly forbidden to light fires in open spaces, including: burning weeds, dry grass and plant waste, lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas, using grills outside designated and safe locations, and discarding cigarette butts and other flammable objects.
Civil Protection reminds that the Law on Fire Protection and Firefighting of HNŽ provides for high fines for non-compliance with measures, and in case of causing fires with serious consequences, criminal liability is also possible.
"Your responsibility and conscientious behavior are key to preserving our forests, property, and human lives. Let's be responsible and protect ourselves together," said the Civil Protection and Firefighting Service of the City of Mostar.
In case of noticing a fire, citizens are invited to immediately contact the Professional Firefighting Unit at number 123 or the Operational Center of the Civil Protection of the City of Mostar at number 121.
