The Goal of the Charade with the Breakup of the State Coalition is to Save Our Party and NIP, Brutally Defeated in the Local Elections

(Patria) - The Troika - SNSD - HDZ coalition should never have happened, and could have, and should have been avoided, believes professor of international relations and geopolitics at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and one of the founders of the Association "Guardians of Bosnia" Jahja Muhasilović.

Absurd argument

In an interview with the Patria News Agency, Muhasilović says that the argument the Troika uses for the so-called breakup of the coalition with the SNSD - blocking the European path - is absurd for several reasons.

- Firstly, they have not actually broken that coalition at all. Secondly, why now when supposedly the SNSD is blocking the European path, but they did not break the coalition over much more serious issues like the destruction of BiH, its constitutional order, its Constitutional Court, marking unconstitutional days, denying the political order, insulting Bosniaks, etc. - says Muhasilović.

He emphasizes that the reason why the Troika decided on such a move right now is very simple - they want to save their very poor image, which has been shaken among voters due to bad moves, especially in the last month or two.

- And this is actually their rescue before the 2026 elections. Especially because of some things they did like the minimum wage, then the wrong moves they made in Jablanica... And all of that is now on their account, and through this they are actually trying to save their political image in the eyes of ordinary voters.

So, the real reason for the so-called breakup of the coalition with the SNSD, because it has not been completely broken, is not the blocking of the European path, as they want to present to the public - underscores Muhasilović.

On the other hand, our interlocutor continues, if the Troika has already decided to break that coalition, then it should be a complete breakup, not just the removal of Nebojša Radmanović from the leadership of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

- Namely, we still have people from the SNSD in the Council of Ministers of BiH, and we see that the Troika has fallen silent on that issue. In fact, this shows us that the Troika, even if it wanted to, cannot break the coalition with the SNSD, because it is not the only one that has a say here.

Both the HDZ and the SNSD have that control package in the House of Peoples through which they can maintain themselves in power. The HDZ has already said that breaking the coalition with the SNSD is not in their interest. The HDZ must not do this because, in a way, the position of the SNSD also protects its political interests.

This is a political marriage in which they are dependent on each other, and through this alliance they actually hold Bosnia and Herzegovina hostage. Therefore, the HDZ is not at all interested in breaking that coalition.

This is a cheap populist move by the Troika. This is already showing, but over time it will be seen that they can do nothing about it - Muhasilović believes.

VMBiH can survive

He welcomed the dismissal of the Minister of Security of BiH Nenad Nešić in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament - "someone who has that criminal milieu and who, since coming to that position, has been destroying Bosnia and Herzegovina".

- However, the Council of Ministers of BiH can function without Nešić, and even without Elmedin Konaković - if his dismissal also occurs. Namely, their deputies can temporarily take over the role of minister until 2026, and some new ministers can also be elected. There are various models by which the current composition of the Council of Ministers of BiH can survive - adds Muhasilović.

He also emphasizes that the Troika, by announcing the breakup of the coalition at the state level, gave an argument to the SNSD and the HDZ, and especially to the SNSD, to block the work of BiH institutions, which they will probably do.

- They had already started in that direction, but now they have an additional reason, given that they have such a bad relationship with the Troika, although a lot has been glossed over and artificially done to make it survive.

A period of blockades will probably ensue, and in the end, the entire balance will fall on the Troika, because for the non-functionality of BiH institutions - voters in the 2026 elections will exclusively blame the Troika and its bad policy.

In fact, that coalition should never have happened, and it is clearly seen that the Troika knowingly chose the SNSD and the HDZ, probably under the directive of foreign embassies. Now it is quite clear that the Troika did not have to enter that coalition, but could have formed it with the opposition from the RS and the current opposition in the FBiH (SDA, DF, Party for BiH, NES).

The Troika - SNSD - HDZ BiH coalition could have been avoided, contrary to what the Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the People and Justice (NIP) Elmedin Konaković says, which is completely untrue - emphasizes Muhasilović.

This whole charade that happened in the last few days, he continues, was done exclusively to save two political parties from the Troika that are not doing well - Our Party and NIP.

- These are two parties that were brutally defeated in the Local Elections, which is indeed an indicator of what could happen in 2026. And this whole quarrel with Milorad Dodik is actually quite fake because, every time the Troika is not doing well, a quarrel occurs between Elmedin Konaković - Milorad Dodik or Our Party - Milorad Dodik.

So this is also one of those episodes of saving and boosting the Troika. Because the HDZ and the international community are interested in the Troika as a project surviving, although it is very questionable whether that will happen - concludes Muhasilović in an interview with Patria.
