CIK still not approved funds for early elections, will Hasanović sign the decision today

(Patria) - The deadline has expired for the Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srđan Amidžić (SNSD), to secure funds by signing for the financing of early elections for the president of the entity of Republika Srpska, which are being conducted by the Central Election Commission.

Amidžić did not sign the decision, and according to an earlier decision by the High Representative, in such cases, his deputy Muhamed Hasanović can do so. It is expected that he will sign the decision today to transfer 6.4 million KM for conducting early elections for the president of Republika Srpska.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina is also facing a shortage of labor, after receiving additional responsibilities including new election technologies.

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has for months been refusing to give consent to the Proposal of the Rulebook on the internal organization of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We remind the public that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received a series of new responsibilities following the decisions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which amended and supplemented the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the very complex task of introducing specific election technologies into the election process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For the new responsibilities, there are no systematized job positions, and due to the large volume of work and lack of human resources, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina is often unable to timely perform all legally prescribed tasks and duties.

Due to all of the above, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses great concern and once again calls on the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to respond and give consent to the Proposal of the Rulebook on the internal organization of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina," stated the CIK on September 11.

Early elections are scheduled to be held on November 23.
