CEC responds to RS Government: Election administration is independent and impartial in its work

(Patria) - Reacting to the Information of the Government of the Republika Srpska published on the official website on April 6, 2024, which calls on members of election implementation bodies from the Republika Srpska to resign, we emphasize that all election commissions, as well as polling boards, are obliged to act independently and impartially, respect the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and faithfully and conscientiously perform their assigned duties.

We remind that Article 2.9 of the Election Law of BiH, among other things, prescribes the exclusive competence of the Central Election Commission of BiH to coordinate, supervise and regulate the legality of the work of all election commissions and polling boards.

The Election Law of BiH does not provide for any role of other election commissions in
exercising these powers of the Central Election Commission of BiH, nor the possibility for this
institution to transfer these powers to any other election commission.

From all members of the election administration, we expect lawful and professional
conduct that is not in the service of political interests and demands, all with the aim of lawful
preparation, organization and conduct of the 2024 Local Elections, the CEC announced.
