(Patria) - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its session adopted a conclusion according to which it will provide an answer from the Central Election Commission of BiH to the request signed by Borjana Krišto in her capacity as the President of the Commission for the Election and Appointment of Members of the Central Election Commission of BiH.
Kristo was interested in why they had not published the Call for new members.
We remind you that the House of Representatives of the PSBiH voted to terminate the mandate of the members of the Central Election Commission of BiH Ahmet Šantić, Suad Arnautović, Branko Petrič, and Novak Božičković. Ahmet Šantić, Suad Arnautović, Vanja Bjelica, and Jovan Kalaba were appointed as new members of the CEC.
SNSD, the Serb Bloc, and HDZ left the session and reacted heatedly afterwards.
"As the subject request asks for action in accordance with the law and the Commission's decisions made before the Decision on the Election and Assumption of Duty and Termination of Duty of Members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina came into force before 11.03.2020, by considering the aforementioned fact and acting in accordance with the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Central Election Commission of BiH is legally and factually unable to participate in the implementation of the Commission's decisions.
In this regard, we remind you that the Central Election Commission of BiH has not published the Public Call for the election and appointment of a total of five (5) members of the Central Election Commission of BiH through the media, nor has it published it on its official website.
Furthermore, the Central Election Commission of BiH has not published application forms for the call on its official website, nor is it able to receive applications for the subject Public Call. Any contrary action by the Central Election Commission of BiH would be contrary to the Decision on the Election and Assumption of Duty and Termination of Duty of Members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the CEC stated.
The Central Election Commission of BiH, as an independent, autonomous, and impartial body, continues to exercise its rights and duties in accordance with the Constitution, the law, its rules of procedure, and other acts, and is dedicated to activities within its jurisdiction, the most current of which relate to preparatory activities and the adoption of relevant acts and decisions regarding the local elections planned for 2020.
