(Patria) - Citizens of Sarajevo will gather again today at 12 PM in front of the National Museum, for the fourth consecutive day.
They demand accountability for the tragic tram accident in which Erdoan Morankić was fatally injured, while four people sustained injuries.
Several informal groups are behind the protests, and one of these organizations is "Hoćel ta promjena" (Will that change?), which published its demands on its Instagram page.
The first demand includes full and complete information about the investigation, including data on tram maintenance and the tram's camera footage at the moment of the accident.
- Completely withdraw all old trams until they undergo re-servicing! Publish the data on their operability publicly - is the second demand of this group.
They also demand the resignations of all responsible individuals throughout the public transport system.
- Build quality, safe transportation and halt the privatization of public city transport - is the fourth demand.
The gathering on Sunday began at 12 PM in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which a protest march was organized towards the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo. There, tram driver Adnan Kasapović's colleagues, who was released from custody, joined the participants.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, resigned, stating that the "voice of the citizens is more important than his function". The protest march ended at the Eternal Flame. Yesterday's gathering was organized by an informal group of citizens gathered around the profile "Ne okreći glavu" (Don't turn your head).
In light of this tragedy, February 14th was declared a Day of Mourning in Sarajevo.
