
SARAJevo, (Patria) - The level of media freedom indicates the level of democracy a country has reached, according to the congratulatory message sent by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, on behalf of the FBiH Government and personally to journalists and BiH media houses on the occasion of May 3 - World Press Freedom Day.
"Convinced that no society and country can win the battle against illegality and injustice, nor achieve the promotion of positive human and moral values without you, I invite you to help us in this, point out shortcomings and correct our decisions. I wish and hope that media freedom, as a fundamental pillar of democracy, will soon become a permanent and unquestionable category in our country as well. It is entirely correct to say that there is an equal sign between media freedom and freedom in general, which is a goal that we can only achieve together. I sincerely congratulate you on this day, which is also important for all of us," reads Prime Minister Novalić's congratulatory message.
"To all media representatives, editorial offices, editors, journalists, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence of BiH and personally, I congratulate you on May 3 - Press Freedom Day and express my support for freedom of expression, neutrality and independence of the media. The commitment of the Ministry of Defence of BiH is to contribute to the realization of the principles of efficiency, transparency and legality, and in accordance with these principles, we invite all media representatives to cooperate, with the desire that the entire society in our country recognizes the importance and role of the media and participates in democratic processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina," stated the congratulatory message of the Minister of Defence of BiH Marina Pendeš, on the occasion of Press Freedom Day.
To all media workers, on my behalf and on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, I extend sincere congratulations on the occasion of May 3, World Press Freedom Day.
"This date reminds us of the responsible role of journalists, because media freedom and journalism represent the foundation of democracy and a prerequisite for a more open, tolerant and successful society. The world we live in, thanks to modern communications and new media, has become more open, especially when it comes to recognizing diversity," stated the congratulatory message of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Admir Katica, on the occasion of Press Freedom Day.
"We are also aware of the fact that without free media, there is no fight against corruption, crime, terrorism and all forms of extremism. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has provided, and will continue to provide, full support to journalists because media freedom, as one of the ways of expressing public opinion, is a fundamental human right that is key to the development of democracy," the congratulatory message added.
