(Patria) - Today is May 9th, Victory over Fascism Day, Europe Day, but also Golden Lilies Day, the recipients of the highest wartime recognition of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović sent congratulations to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of May Ninth – Victory over Fascism Day, Europe Day, and Golden Lilies Day.
"May Ninth represents one of the most significant dates in contemporary European and Bosnian-Herzegovinian history. This day symbolizes the victory over fascism and reminds us of the universal values of freedom, peace, and human dignity, which are embedded in the foundations of modern Europe and the foundations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a modern European state.
At the same time, Europe Day affirms the idea of unity, cooperation, and solidarity among European peoples, based on the principles of democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights.
For Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European and Euro-Atlantic path represents a strategic commitment and a key framework for long-term stability, security, and development. Golden Lilies Day symbolizes the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who defended the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the state in the most difficult moments, protecting the fundamental values of freedom and common life. Connecting these three important historical and contemporary dimensions, May Ninth obliges us to permanently cherish anti-fascist values, strengthen democratic institutions, and continue to build the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on peace, stability, and mutual respect.
I congratulate the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Victory over Fascism Day, Europe Day, and Golden Lilies Day."
Congratulations from the Vice President of the FBiH Refik Lendo
On the occasion of May 9th – Victory over Fascism Day, Europe Day, and Golden Lilies Day, I extend sincere congratulations to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
May Ninth is a symbol of the victory of freedom over fascism and ideologies of hatred that left behind persecution and suffering. For our country, this date has a special and lasting significance, because half a century after the victory over fascism, our people were once again forced to defend the same values – freedom, the right to life, unity, and the right to a state.
The experience of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown that ideologies of hatred have not disappeared, but also the strength, courage, and determination of the people who defended their country.
On Golden Lilies Day, we express deep respect to the recipients of the highest wartime recognition of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all its members, as well as to the martyrs and fallen soldiers who invested their lives in the freedom of our homeland.
Their sacrifice obliges us to remain worthy of the values they fought for, to protect Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to work responsibly on strengthening its institutions, peace, and security.
Anti-fascism must not remain only a part of historical memory. It is a permanent obligation to oppose every form of hatred, division, and attempts to endanger freedom, peace, and the constitutional order.
Bosnia and Herzegovina must build its future on the values of peace, stability, cooperation, and mutual respect. Our country's European and NATO path remains a strategic commitment and an important guarantee of security and prosperity for all its citizens. Happy May 9th – the day of the victory of freedom, anti-fascism, European values, and the pride of the Golden Lilies.

A special place in the commemoration of this date belongs to Golden Lilies Day, when recognition is given to the bravest sons and daughters of Bosnia and Herzegovina who showed exceptional courage, patriotism, and readiness for sacrifice in the defense of their homeland. Their struggle and contribution remain a lasting value and an obligation for future generations to preserve the independence, peace, and dignity of our country.
