Čerkez: Autopsy not decided by Crisis Staff, WHO prescribed burial method for victims

(Patria) - Member of the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health and Assistant Federal Minister for Public Health Goran Čerkez said that the virus has changed the entire world.

"In some people we have mild symptoms, in others asymptomatic problems. Unfortunately, we also have people with very severe problems. Severe conditions can quickly become further complicated. We all must know that this is not a disease that came out of nowhere. Numbers can deceive us. This is not a mild illness, one that will just pass. We must be prepared for a longer fight against the coronavirus."

The health of our population is also threatened by inactivity and stress. This is not a time for politicization, nor for positioning of individuals. It is time to allow the profession to do its job responsibly and I guarantee all citizens of the Federation that they can trust the profession.

I also call on the media and those who speak publicly to be fair. This is a time when we will have a significant number of patients, many more deaths, and a time we must all enter together," said Čerkez.

He could not answer the question of which supplier the tests were procured from and how much they cost.

When asked by Patria who has the courage, although we know whose jurisdiction it is, to order the cantons and draw their attention to the fact that they are not a state, when we can expect that to happen and when they will be held accountable.

"Everyone has responsibility and there should be no divisions of jurisdiction; the cantons are very clearly defined and must be acted upon accordingly," said Čerkez.

He also said that the decision on autopsies of the deceased is not made by them as the Crisis Staff, so he cannot say why an autopsy was not performed on the deceased woman from Ilidža.

"We do not decide on autopsies. That is a matter for the local level, and as for the burial of that segment, there are very clear instructions and all instructions have been forwarded to funeral companies. Everything that the World Health Organization prescribes, we forward," said Čerkez.
