Čerkez on Coronavirus: 57 Hospitalized in FBiH, 14 in Serious Condition

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Goran Čerkez, Assistant Minister of Health of FBiH, stated that 1,308 tests have been performed in FBiH, of which 182 are confirmed.

According to statistics, 55% of those infected are women, and 45% are men. There have been nine deaths, six individuals over 65 years old, and three deaths among individuals between 45 and 54 years old,” said Čerkez, adding that five men and four women have died.

Čerkez stated that people in isolation are also experiencing mental health problems.

“I want to tell citizens to take a break from watching TV, it is important to watch other content to distract yourselves from this problem. We plan to make all 44 mental health centers in FBiH available to citizens,” said Čerkez.

He stated that depression and anxiety are being reported.

“There are 57 hospitalized individuals in FBiH, 14 of whom are severe patients and are under medical care,” said Čerkez.

Currently, there are 23,000 tests in FBiH.

Speaking about the mask-wearing order, Čerkez explained that a mask is a protection not for ourselves, but for those across from us.

“We want to protect the population to the maximum. Our assessment is that it is currently good to wear a mask, that it is good to protect oneself, but to wear it properly, not under the nose, and to remove it correctly.”

He stated that the number of clusters has increased, thus increasing the number of infected individuals. The number of tests performed followed the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

Regarding Međugorje, all information is being gathered, and epidemiologists are currently working in the field and collecting all information.
