Central Bank of BiH will not transfer funds: Monetary security and assets come first

(Patria) - The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a profit of over 412 million KM in 2024, but the transfer of part of the profit to the state has been postponed for now.

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an independent monetary authority institution, remains committed to its core mission – preserving the monetary and financial stability of the country by maintaining the stability of the domestic currency, the convertible mark.

At the third session of the Governing Council of the CBBH, held on March 27, 2025, the Financial Report of the Central Bank for the year ending December 31, 2024, was adopted, along with the Decision on the distribution of net profit for the same year.

According to official data, the Central Bank of BiH generated a net profit of 412,599,585.33 KM in 2024. In accordance with Article 27 of the Law on the Central Bank of BiH and the aforementioned decision of the Governing Council, it was decided that the amount of 244,306,831.96 KM would be allocated as an obligation to the institution responsible for the BiH budget – the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

However, the Central Bank emphasizes that, considering the current circumstances and in accordance with the applicable laws and the mandate of the CBBH, the payment of this portion of the profit will not be made as long as there is a risk that could jeopardize the assets of the Central Bank, and thus the overall monetary and financial stability of the country.
