SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adi Kalem visited today the Traffic Management Center in the Canton, from which continuous monitoring and management of public city transport will be enabled 24 hours a day.
As he pointed out, this centralized Control Center brings a number of advantages that will improve public city transport and increase passenger safety.
"At the stops, there will be information about timetables, information about the arrival time of the next vehicle, passengers will be registered with contactless cards, at any moment we will have information about where which vehicle is located, how many passengers it is transporting. In addition to the system and control of electronic ticket payment, the Control Center will monitor 24 tram stops via video surveillance, which will be displayed on the video wall throughout the day, and if necessary, the situation in vehicles equipped with video surveillance equipment can also be monitored. For now, these are all tram vehicles," said Kalem.
In addition, the video wall will display a map of Sarajevo Canton with all active vehicles providing public city transport services in the Canton, the Press Service of the Canton announced.
The implementation of the entire project is in its final phase, and the plan is for it to be completed by the end of the year, given the current epidemiological situation and the suspension of public city transport.
After implementation, a test phase follows, which is a prerequisite for putting the system into operation and fully transitioning to the electronic payment and management system.
