Čeferin: No establishment of a Balkan League, domestic competitions are the foundation of football in Europe

For days, there have been speculations that a Balkan or Regional League will soon be established, in which clubs from the former Yugoslavia would participate. However, today's statement by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has dismissed such a possibility, writes Patria.

This is also the official stance of UEFA.

- There is no truth in recent claims about the establishment of a so-called Balkan League. Contrary to what has been written in some media, no decision has been made by UEFA or its official bodies regarding the creation of such a championship.

It was emphasized that domestic competitions are the foundation of football in Europe.

- Although transnational competitions have been mentioned in some cases, there are currently no concrete proposals. UEFA would consider any such idea if the initiative were launched by national associations - reads the official stance of UEFA.
