Cazin Prepared in Time: No Infected Cases, But Hall Converted into Isolation Facility

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The organization for the prevention and timely response to the coronavirus pandemic in the City of Cazin started much earlier than all others in the region. Due to its proximity to the EU border and the large number of people from Krajina living and working in Western Europe, the Crisis Staff was formed more than fifteen days ago and is in daily session.

More than three hundred Civil Protection commissioners cover every settlement and every hamlet, and all resources are directed towards protection measures and preparations for every possible scenario. In less than 24 hours, an isolation facility was set up in the Cazin sports hall, which will be managed by the Cazin Health Center in case of a larger number of infected patients, reports cazin.net

Although there are no registered cases of coronavirus infection in this city in Krajina, isolation has been ordered for 903 individuals, and all measures and obligations required by such a situation are being undertaken. Among them is the establishment of a large isolation facility with 52 separate units, each equipped with beds and all accompanying medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, stethoscopes, protective masks and gloves, and infusion systems.

"This is such a challenge that requires immediate action. Every minute changes the circumstances, and everything that needs to be done now is not postponed. Of course, we reacted immediately. We can say that we have an isolation facility available in the city of Cazin, and we hope, God willing, that it will not be needed," says the Mayor of Cazin, Nermin Ogrešević.

The isolation facility in the Cazin Sports Hall has the capacity to be increased to one hundred separate units if needed. Special entrances for patients and medical staff have been provided, as well as all accompanying technical facilities such as a laundry room, doctors' rooms, etc. The medical part of the work will be managed by the Cazin Health Center, while Civil Protection is responsible for all technical matters.
