Čavić announced: I will be the new mayor of Banja Luka

The president of NDP, Dragan Čavić, stated today that he is ready to accept the candidacy for the mayor of Banja Luka, but only if all members of the opposition bloc support him, reports the news agency Patria.

Čavić, who was a candidate for this position in the previous election cycle, emphasizes that his only condition is the support of all members of the Alliance for Change, stressing that, otherwise, he is ready to support any other candidate around whom the opposition would unite.

Regarding the increasingly frequent stories about him being the unified opposition candidate in the "battle for Banja Luka", Čavić states that he is ready to re-enter the race for the mayoral seat, but also emphasizes that he does not believe in the possibility that the opposition will again field multiple candidates, as happened in 2012 when he was defeated by the current mayor Slobodan Gavranović.

- Unlike the previous elections, I am sure that this time there will be a general consensus regarding the opposition candidate - says Čavić, adding that some, albeit unofficial, stories about the ruling bloc having multiple candidates also work in their favor, writes banjaluka.net.
