The President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Marinko Čavara, said today that the DF and SDP want to create chaos and anarchy because they are calling for early elections in FBiH. Čavara said that the coalition SDA - HDZ BiH - SBB has no alternative, reports the Patria agency.
However, analysts quickly assessed that Čavara's statements were unfounded, and ultimately incorrect.
The government in FBiH was formed at the end of March last year thanks precisely to the votes of the SDP. Had the SDP not supported Milan Dunović for Vice President of FBiH, Čavara could not have been elected President of the Federation. Čavara omitted this important fact in his statements to journalists today!
Delegates of the SDP in the Serb Club of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH last year provided the missing signatures for the DF candidate for Vice President of FBiH, Milan Dunović, thereby unblocking the process of appointing the leadership of FBiH. Without the SDP's signatures, the formation of the government in FBiH was not possible, even though five months had passed since the elections were held.
The head of the Serb Club, Slaviša Šućur (SDP), said at the time that the SDP wanted to end the practice of blackmail. Furthermore, Šućur said that it was not in the interest of citizens for FBiH to be without a government, and therefore the SDP supported the formation of the government in FBiH.
The DF's Vice President of FBiH, Milan Dunović, acted equally responsibly towards citizens several months later. Although the DF left the government and went into opposition, Dunović very quickly gave written consent for the appointment of new ministers proposed by the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) of BiH. Without his signatures, the Federation of BiH would not have a government to this day. Dunović said at the time that the DF would support everything that is in the interest of citizens, but would oppose what the authorities do against the entity.
It is interesting that four years earlier, Čavara's HDZ BiH did not behave responsibly towards citizens in FBiH, as the SDP and DF did a few months ago. Analysts will recall that it was precisely the HDZ that blocked the formation of the House of Peoples of FBiH, which caused major headaches for the ruling parties and took a lot of time during the formation of the entity government, reports Patria.
