Čavalić after failed session: Shameful attitude of majority deputies and the FBiH Government

(Patria) - The emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on fiscal reform was not held. The session was requested by opposition deputies who gathered enough signatures. A large number of deputies did not even show up for the session, and those who did did not support holding the session by failing to vote for the agenda.

Admir Čavalić said this was shameful and also criticized the attitude of the FBiH Government, emphasizing that only the federal Minister of Interior, Ramo Isak, appeared at the session.

“From July 1, this 5.5 percent is running – that is a reduction of the aggregate contribution rate to 36 percent. That is not enough and it is an admission by the FBiH Government that a mistake was made, that fiscal reforms should have been done first, and only then other economic policies. The failure of this session testifies that there is no sincere intention of the FBiH Government to carry out comprehensive fiscal reforms, except for the law concerning the fiscal system, which implies additional taxation even on individuals who sell something worth 5,000 KM annually. A shameful attitude from the representatives of the majority who did not come and support the agenda, and an even worse attitude from the FBiH Government – today only Minister Isak was present,” said Čavalić, as reported by N1.

He said they had promised that the contribution rate would go down to 30 percent, which is currently the rate in the RS entity.

“Currently, the entire fiscal burden is on the worker; everyone has piled on the worker, and we have neglected capital and consumption. This must be reformed. We have a decline in employment in the first quarter of this year, something we have not seen in the last five years,” he added.
