Čaušević avoids property seizure, pays 5,800 KM to court this morning

The seizure of property belonging to Kemal Čaušević, former director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (UIO BiH), following a lost lawsuit filed by Mehmedalija Osmić, head of the UIO BiH Trade Union, was not carried out because Čaušević paid the amount of 5,800 KM to the competent court's account this morning, although he was supposed to do so two years ago, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Osmić told reporters today that the state and justice have won today, but that Čaušević will have to pay default interest on this amount.

Otherwise, the seizure of property was supposed to take place in one of Čaušević's numerous apartments at Mula Mustafe Bašeskije street 12, which he acquired while serving as director of the UIO BiH.

Čaušević appeared at the scene, and as he passed Osmić, he made the so-called 'horns' gesture with two fingers above Osmić's head.

Čaušević was arrested in the Pandora operation in June 2014, along with 54 other people, on the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of organized crime, money laundering, and customs and tax evasion.

He was released in September 2014, and to this day it remains unclear whether he has the status of an accused, a witness, or a suspect.
