Čamdžić at Uhud: Expect defeat if you choose the transient

(Patria) - Pilgrims from our country currently staying in Medina today, organized by the Hajj and Umrah Office of the Islamic Community in BiH, visited the plateau where the Battle of Uhud took place in 625 AD.

In this battle, which was a pagan response to the victory of the Muslims at Badr, the Prophet (pbuh) was wounded, and Hamza (RA) and other companions were killed.

On this occasion, our pilgrims were addressed by the chief guide Izet-ef. Čamdžić, who recalled historical facts, but also pointed to the main message of the Battle of Uhud, a battle in which Muslims were defeated.

"Whenever in life you prioritize the transient over the eternal, expect defeat," said efendija Čamdžić.

He recalled how armies gathered in the valley below Mount Uhud and the battle began. The Prophet and his companions quickly pushed back the more powerful enemy, after which the division of very rich war spoils began.

"The Prophet (pbuh) selected 50 of the best and most capable archers and stationed them here, on this hill, which is called the Archers' Hill. Over there, in that palm grove, the excellent commander, later the Sword of Allah, Khalid ibn al-Walid, was positioned; he was waiting for an opportunity.

The Prophet and his companions quickly pushed back the enemy and drove them back. But what did the Prophet say to those he left here? He said, as clearly as possible, even if they defeat us here and you see birds carrying away our bodies, you must not abandon your position, under any circumstances, and in no way. Did they abandon it? Yes. Well, that's the lesson. We came here because of this sentence. When they saw that war spoils were being collected, what did they desire? They desired the transient," said efendija Čamdžić.

He emphasized that by choosing what is transient, victory will never be certain. "Just as we came here to learn a lesson, the companions of the Prophet also learned a lesson from that defeat and no longer experienced defeats; they marched from victory to victory. We were at the Jamarat, throwing pebbles, to oppose Satan, to accumulate faith, to keep him away from us. We came here to confirm that and to march from victory to victory with our Hajj, fighting ourselves," said Čamdžić.

After Uhud, the pilgrims also visited the Qiblatayn Mosque, the mosque with two Qiblas. Hafiz Sadrudin-ef. Išerić is one of this year's guides and explains that it was in this mosque that the command came for Muslims to turn in their prayers towards Mecca, i.e., the Kaaba and the Haram Sharif, instead of Jerusalem. "The Prophet found them praying and informed them that they were ordered to turn. As they stood, they simply turned," said Hafiz Išerić.

In this way, God, as the interpretation of the mufassirs explains, fulfilled the longings of the Prophet (pbuh) and pleased him by turning towards the Kaaba in prayer. The Quba Mosque is the first mosque built by the Prophet (pbuh) after the beginning of the revelation, and he himself participated in its construction. Our pilgrims visited it today and prayed two rak'ahs there.

"Mosques are our centers, not only for worship but also for other activities. This one is special also because the Prophet said that two rak'ahs of prayer in it are equivalent to performing an Umrah," said the guide of one of the groups, Hafiz Dr. Maid-ef. Ibrahimović.

Another 350 pilgrims are arriving in Medina from Mecca today, who, according to the adopted plan, will immediately visit the Prophet's Mosque and spend some time in Rawdah, the oldest part of this mosque, which the Prophet said is "one of the gardens of Paradise".

Visits to Medina's landmarks will also be organized for the arriving pilgrims. The return of the first pilgrims to their homeland is planned for June 25.
