Bukvarević held a meeting with cantonal ministers and directors of veteran affairs administrations

Federal Minister for Veterans and Disabled of the Defense-Liberation War Salko Bukvarević held a meeting today at the FBiH Government headquarters in Sarajevo with cantonal ministers and directors of administrations in the field of veteran-disability protection, reports the BiH News Agency Patria.

Minister Bukvarević informed the guests about the ideas and proposals from the meeting held last week with representatives of 49 associations, organizations, and unions of the veteran population in the Federation of BiH, which aim for better cooperation and joint resolution of problems faced by their members.

In addition to the commitment of the FBiH Government and this ministry not to reduce budget allocations for the veteran population compared to last year, the minister emphasized that proposals for programs for approving current transfers intended for the veteran population, as well as determining the base and coefficients for calculating and paying veteran benefits for 2015, have been submitted to the FBiH Government.

Bukvarević stated that the Ministry's work priority will be on amendments to the laws regulating this area, and on forming a new coordination team.

Cantonal ministers and directors of administrations in the field of veteran-disability protection expressed their willingness for successful, good, and concrete cooperation, and informed the minister about the problems they encounter in the practical application of legal solutions related to this area.

Regarding the payment of veteran benefits for beneficiaries in the West Herzegovina Canton, it was agreed today that they will be realized after the cantonal and municipal authorities in Ljubuški, Grude, Posušje, and Široki Brijeg remove the existing barriers to the implementation of laws in the field of veteran-disability protection.

Expressing hope that these meetings will be held quarterly, Bukvarević emphasized the Ministry's stance that every veteran should be treated fairly and in accordance with the law. He also announced a meeting with heads of departments and groups for military obligation records.
