Bruce Dickinson held a concert in besieged Sarajevo

(Patria) - Bruce Dickinson and his band performed a concert at the Sarajevo's BKC (Bosnian Cultural Center) in the midst of the war. The concert, held on December 14, 1994, certainly ranks among the greatest concerts held in the country.

Bruce and his band arrived in Sarajevo under unusual circumstances, and their journey began from Split, from where they arrived in Sarajevo by a truck from the humanitarian organization Serious Road Trip.

The concert was organized by UNPROFOR in cooperation with local cultural institutions. The opening acts at the concert were the Sarajevo rock bands Almanah and Sikter. The concert was the last on the world tour promoting the album Balls to Picasso. Given that Sarajevo was under siege, the concert was organized in a very risky situation. In the end, everything went smoothly, and the BKC hall was packed.

Scream for me Sarajevo

A documentary film "Scream for me Sarajevo" was also made about the entire story, which tells the tale of that incredible journey to the besieged city and the concert. The film reconnected Dickinson, the band, the concert organizers, and the people who were at the BKC at the time.

Bruce Dickinson was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Sarajevo, and the award was presented to him on April 6, 2019, in Sarajevo's City Hall by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka.
