Bosnia and Herzegovina Wins Bronze Medal at European Junior Olympiad in Informatics

(Patria) - Young IT experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina have continued to achieve success on the international knowledge stage.

At the prestigious European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI 2025), held in the Bulgarian city of Shumen, our homeland was represented by a team of talented students: Amir Karamović (JU OŠ "Musa Ćazim Ćatić" Sarajevo), Tarik Odžak (JU OŠ "Grbavica I" Sarajevo), Marko Zarić (OŠ "Sveti Sava" Gacko), and Aleksej Popović (OŠ "Sveti Sava" Zvornik).

In competition with the best young programmers from 27 European countries, Amir Karamović won a bronze medal, confirming that Bosnia and Herzegovina has IT experts capable of competing with their peers from the most developed countries. Behind this success is also the dedicated work of his IT teacher, Azra Kreho.

The competition itself, organized in the style of the International Olympiad in Informatics, required students to solve complex algorithmic problems within a limited time over two days, which was a true test of knowledge, concentration, and resourcefulness.

The complete preparations, student selection, and travel arrangements were carried out by the Informatics Olympiad Association in BiH, which has been working for many years to promote and develop young IT talents. The team leaders, Admir Tuzović and Boban Mijatović, provided support to the students throughout the competition.

The Ministry of Education and Upbringing of KS financially supported the participation of students from Sarajevo Canton in the Olympiad.

The achieved success of the young IT experts is the result of the exceptional dedication of the students, as well as a system that recognizes and supports excellence.

The Ministry emphasizes that the KS Government and the Ministry of Education and Upbringing of KS continuously invest in education, thereby building a system where knowledge and excellence are recognized and rewarded.

The Ministry extends congratulations to all members of the BiH team for their exceptional effort and dignified representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
