Numerous reactions: Serbia showed its true face, deniers of genocide and those who glorify war criminals are welcome

(Patria) - After it was announced that two students who glorified war criminal Ratko Mladić and celebrated the killings of Bosniaks would go to Belgrade at the invitation of Aleksandar Vulin and Serbia to continue their studies, numerous reactions followed, from politicians and the public alike. Valentina Vujičić and Slađana Todić publicly glorified Ratko Mladić and the killing of Bosniaks via social media. This was reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, which forwarded the material to the BiH Prosecutor's Office. That prosecutor's office opened a case, and by going to Serbia, Todić and Vujičić will become unavailable to the BiH judiciary.

Here are some of the reactions.

“With this move, Serbia once again, with a concrete example, shows and proves that Vučić's story about 'good neighborly relations' is unfortunately just a false phrase. Serbia continues to institutionally protect the image and misdeeds of war criminals and butchers Mladić and Karadžić,” wrote Damir Mašić, a federal representative, in a comment.

His colleague from the parliamentary benches, Dennis Gratz, also sharply criticized the regime in Serbia.

“Everything we need to know about the real motives, character, and perspectives of political Serbia's relations with BiH can be recognized through indicators like this. And no, it really makes no sense to invest any political capital in relaxing anything with the political leadership of the neighbor to the east until we are convinced – by deeds! – that Serbia's policy towards BiH has undergone a fundamental change. That we wish each other well. That evil should be called evil, and good and useful recognized as such. As long as Vučić and his satellites in the Balkans (and the politicians and policies that will come after these) do not renounce Chetnik fascism, Greater Serbian nationalism, and chauvinism and ethno-racist sentiments in general in every possible way (politically, culturally, economically, through reparations to victims, or, for starters, say, by taking over the financing of all costs for the maintenance and functioning of memorial centers throughout the former Yugoslavia, following the example of the German government at the Holocaust sites across Europe), BiH politicians with a minimum of self-respect and patriotic sentiment should reduce contacts and cooperation with the Government of Serbia to the necessary minimum. Or, as Churchill said when his colleagues objected and wondered in 1940 why he avoided negotiating with Hitler – 'You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.'”

Economist Svetlana Cenić also reacted to this inhumane act by Serbia.
“If this is a reward for 'Well, at least we killed you,' then it is a civilizational collapse and an expulsion from civilization. There is nothing more to say,” she stated.

The Twitter profile of Mothers of Srebrenica also published a reaction.

“Serbia has rewarded the students who glorified war criminal Mladić with a scholarship and the continuation of their studies in Belgrade. When you glorify murderers and butchers in Serbia, you are rewarded. Shameful!”

Journalist and columnist Dragan Bursać also shared his opinion:

“Media: Serbia rewarded students who glorified Mladić with a scholarship and the continuation of their studies in Belgrade.
Bursać: And what do you say, is it not worth denying genocide, calling for a new one, and glorifying war criminals?”
