
(Patria) - Following the tragic fire at the Retirement Home in Tuzla, condolences to the families of the victims and the citizens of Tuzla were also expressed by the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Refik Lendo. Numerous expressions of condolences from political officials have arrived.
"I am deeply shaken by the news of this tragedy that has struck Tuzla and the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina. I wish the families of the victims to find strength in these difficult moments and, together with their loved ones, overcome the pain of losing their dearest ones. I wish a swift and full recovery to the injured.
I thank the members of the fire and medical services, as well as everyone who participated in the rescue and assistance efforts. Their humanity, courage, and readiness to help in the most difficult circumstances deserve sincere respect," Lendo stated.
Following the terrible tragedy that struck Tuzla, in which at least 11 residents of the Retirement Home lost their lives and more than thirty people were injured, the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lidija Bradara, sent a letter of condolence and support to the City of Tuzla, Mayor Zijad Lugavić, and the Chairperson of the City Council, Ana Pejić.
"Dear Mayor Lugavić, Chairperson Pejić, councilors, please accept once again expressions of sincere support. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, and my prayers are with the injured and all those affected.
Whatever assistance you need from the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we stand ready! I hope that together we will learn something from this tragedy and once again show strength and unity," reads the letter of condolence from President Bradara.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, also spoke out.
"We are deeply shaken by the tragic event at the Retirement Home in Tuzla. I extend my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to all who have lost their loved ones. I wish a swift and full recovery to the home's residents and members of the rescue services who were injured. In these difficult moments, our thoughts are with all the citizens of Tuzla and everyone helping to mitigate the terrible consequences of this tragedy," Konaković stated.
Expressions of condolences were also given by federal deputies, councilors, and numerous citizens.
"I was deeply shaken by last night's terrible tragedy in Tuzla. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, the home's users, and everyone going through these difficult moments. Special gratitude to the heroes who took part in the rescue operation - firefighters, medical workers, and the police. Tuzla is today in all our hearts and minds," wrote Dennis Gratz, a DF deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
