Number of new infections in Germany continues to rise, in Italy it is too early to talk about drastic improvement

(Patria) – In Germany, the number of people infected with the coronavirus is rising; in the last 24 hours, 2,458 new cases have been confirmed out of a total of 139,897.

The number of new infections has been increasing for the fourth consecutive day, and a day earlier as many as 3,609 new cases of infection were confirmed.

The number of deaths also continues to rise and now stands at 4,294.

In Italy, 482 people died on Saturday, bringing the total to 23,227, while nearly 176,000 Italians have been infected, of which almost 3,500 were confirmed in the past 24 hours.

This epidemiological picture in Italy is considered more favorable compared to that in March, but it is still not developing in the direction everyone had hoped for.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Saturday that he will ask parliament to extend restrictive measures until May 9, but that restrictions will be somewhat relaxed.

In that country, nearly 195,000 residents have fallen ill, and 20,639 have died.

The epidemic is claiming new victims in Great Britain as well, where 15,464 people have died, and a total of 114,217 have been infected.

British Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said on Sunday that schools will remain closed until medical experts confirm that it is time to change that decision.

Globally, 2,332,004 people have been infected with the coronavirus, and 160,767 have died.
