(Patria) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on his Twitter profile that over the past 24 hours he developed 'mild symptoms, a fever, and a persistent cough'.
On the advice of medical experts, he was tested for the coronavirus, which returned positive.
Johnson is in self-isolation at home and says he will continue to lead the country's response to the epidemic through new technologies.
Johnson's partner Carrie Symonds, who is five months pregnant, will self-isolate; for now, there are no reports on whether she is also positive.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock has also tested positive for the coronavirus. He is also in home isolation and currently has mild symptoms.
