British intellectual Sardar to speak on the future of Islam in Europe in Sarajevo

The "Vesatijja" Centre for Dialogue is organizing a lecture in Sarajevo where British intellectual Ziauddin Sardar will speak on the future of Islam in Europe, the "Vesatijja" Centre announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

The author of numerous books, scientific papers, newspaper columns, and television shows will speak on April 27 in the Great Hall of the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, starting at 6 PM.

Simultaneous English-Bosnian translation of the lecture will be provided. The lecture will be realized in cooperation with the Centre for Advanced Studies and the Gazi Husrev-beg Library.

Ziauddin Sardar (1951) is a Muslim British writer and intellectual of Pakistani origin whose fields of interest include Muslim thought, future studies, philosophy of knowledge and science, and cultural studies in the broadest sense.

He has so far published or edited, alone or in co-authorship, more than 35 books. The British magazine Prospect ranked him among the 100 most important public intellectuals in Great Britain.

The Centre for Dialogue - Vesatijja was founded by a decision of the Sabor of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina in July 2012. The Centre is an institution of the Islamic Community and has the status of a legal entity.

In accordance with its founding documents, the Centre's mission is to spread and promote a culture of dialogue both among Muslims and among members of different religions and worldviews, in accordance with the goals and mission of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina defined by the sources of Islam and its normative acts, reports NAP.
