British woman, 106, beats virus: "I was lucky"

(Patria) – British Connie Titchen (106) has won her battle with the coronavirus after three weeks of hospital treatment.

Born in September 1913, Connie lived during the so-called Spanish Flu pandemic, survived two world wars, and is now the oldest citizen of Great Britain to recover from the coronavirus.

She was greeted with a big round of applause from the medical staff upon leaving the hospital in Birmingham.

She was hospitalised in March with pneumonia symptoms, and it was later determined that she had contracted the coronavirus.

In a short video clip, she says she was lucky to have survived and looks forward to seeing her grandchildren again. Her family says Connie led a 'very active life' and is independent – she still cooks for herself, but also occasionally enjoys McDonald's.

In Great Britain, 103,093 have been infected and 13,729 people have died.
