At today's meeting held in Banja Luka, no agreement was reached on the introduction of a national group of subjects and the Bosnian language, as requested by parents of Bosniak children, writes the news agency Patria.
RS Minister of Education and Culture Dane Malešević said that parents from other municipalities, apart from those where this problem has been discussed so far, also attended the meeting.
- Parents are adamant in their demand that children should learn the Bosnian language and, as I understood, they will continue not to attend classes until this is realized. We cannot respond to this request because the Constitution of RS states the language of the Bosniak people, just as in HNK where such a formulation of the language does not pose a problem, said Malešević.
RS Vice-President Ramiz Salkić said that the very fact that Malešević announced that an attempt would be made to find a political agreement indicates that this is a political story on which some are building their careers.
The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the OSCE, the director of the Pedagogical Institute of Republika Srpska Predrag Damjanović, the Federal Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons Edin Ramić, and parents of Bosniak children from 10 municipalities in Republika Srpska.
