A hearing was held today at the Basic Court in Banja Luka in the lawsuit filed by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik against the leader of the Serb Democratic Party, Mladen Bosić, reports the Patria news agency.
The lawsuit was filed after Dodik called Bosić a pathological liar and after the SDS leader retaliated by claiming that Dodik had lied to the citizens of Republika Srpska regarding the referendum, the crackdown on crime, and the investigation of suspicious privatizations, while stealing millions of marks.
Dodik is seeking monetary compensation of 10,000 marks from Bosić for defamation.
At the preliminary hearing, Bosić stated that he stands by his claims that Dodik “stole millions.”
At a press conference in Banja Luka, Bosić said they had gathered documentation on Dodik’s business dealings dating back to the war period, and that this documentation points to “war profiteering,” ATV reported.
He added that they had also obtained Milorad Dodik’s asset declarations from 2002 to 2014, as well as documentation concerning major scandals such as “Birač,” Bobar Bank, the company “Nikola Tesla,” and others.
“What is most concerning in all of this is that we requested from the institutions of Republika Srpska to provide us with the necessary documentation, which is public property and should be accessible to all citizens of Republika Srpska. We received a refusal from all institutions, including the Central Securities Depository in Banja Luka, the company ‘Nikola Tesla,’ the Government of Republika Srpska, and the Tax Administration – Regional Unit Banja Luka,” Bosić emphasized.
The SDS leader believes that the Court will be impartial and will allow him to present all evidence and call all witnesses.
Bosić announced that the preliminary hearing, due to the volume of documentation and lawyers’ requests, will continue on May 19, and that the lawsuit seeks compensation for emotional distress in the amount of 10,000 KM.
Commenting on the fact that Dodik did not attend the hearing, Bosić said that “he probably has nothing to say,” that Dodik is weighing what is in his interest, and that he has no new evidence.
