Veteran's allowance in FBiH nowhere in sight, protests announced

(Patria) - As things stand now, the veteran's allowance for all war veterans will not be legally resolved by December 31. Consequently, it will not be included in the budget for the next year, which was the demand of the Alliance of Veterans of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- The current situation gives no guarantees that the FBiH Government and the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs have taken us seriously. They are now trying to procrastinate and divert the process in another direction. We will not give up so easily - says the president of the Tuzla Canton Association of Demobilized Veterans, Ibrahim Mušić.

The veteran's allowance of 1.5 KM per month spent in defense of the country was agreed upon within the Working Group of the FBiH Government. However, the proposal has not gone beyond the Working Group, writes Faktor.

- We will not give up on seeking our rights. We remain firm on the line that this is an amount of 1.5 KM per month spent in defense, despite the criticisms we have had within our population. We have not yet received a direct "no", but if that happens, we will certainly resort to other measures, which will be decided by our organizations, from the lowest levels to the FBiH. We already have a certain readiness for protests, but in a peaceful, cultured, and dignified manner - says Mušić.

He emphasizes in the end that this will likely happen if the veteran population is treated in a way they do not deserve.
