Rich Sports Season for Elementary School Students in Stari Grad with Five Sports Leagues

At today's meeting of elementary school principals from Stari Grad and employees of the Service for Education, Culture, and Sports of the Municipality of Stari Grad, a rich and diverse sports season 2017/2018 was announced for elementary school students in Stari Grad. The project of introducing league competitions in football and volleyball in 2014 and 2015 proved to be a great success, and these leagues have grown year by year, with a chess league for elementary school students from Stari Grad introduced last year. Starting from the upcoming 2017/2018 season, the Municipality of Stari Grad is also introducing league competitions for its elementary school students in basketball and table tennis, and certain preparations have already been made, reports the Patria agency.

Stari Grad Football League

The oldest, but also the most popular league competition for elementary school students in Stari Grad, the elementary school football league, is entering its fourth season. This season will have 10 rounds, and the autumn part begins at the end of this month. The matches will be played, as last year, at the Bentbaša Small Football Centre, and details about the exact day and schedule of the matches will be announced later, due to further coordination between the six schools and the municipal service. Incidentally, the title from last year is defended by Elementary School "Hamdija Kreševljaković".

Stari Grad Volleyball League

The volleyball league is scheduled to start from the beginning of November. The female volleyball players from Elementary School "Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković" have been the sole winners of this competition so far, having won the title in both volleyball leagues organized to date. The league will be organized in cooperation with the Volleyball Academy "Smeč", while the matches will be played in the newly built hall of Elementary School "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija".

Stari Grad Chess League

The best young chess players from Stari Grad for last season were students from Elementary School "Hamdija Kreševljaković", so they will try to defend that title. The autumn part of this competition begins at the end of November. The league, along with the Municipality of Stari Grad, is also organized by the Chess Club "Stari Grad", and Elementary School "Hamdija Kreševljaković" has offered its premises for playing the regular rounds.

Stari Grad Table Tennis League

Preparations for the premiere season of this competition began in the spring, when the Municipality of Stari Grad purchased 15 table tennis tables for all elementary schools in Stari Grad, as well as for the Mjedenica Institute. Currently, table tennis sections are being formed within the schools, and each school will select its team, consisting of the two best male table tennis players and the best female table tennis player. Matches will be played at Elementary School "Saburina", and the times and exact date will be announced later.

Stari Grad Basketball League

For the preparation of the basketball league, the Municipality of Stari Grad financed the purchase of specialized basketball hoops with adjustable height, which have been installed in the new hall of Elementary School "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija". The Basketball School BBY (Bosnian youth basket) will play a significant role in the organization of this competition, and the plan is for the matches to start at the beginning of December.

The Municipality of Stari Grad has allocated approximately 40,000 KM for the organization of the football, basketball, volleyball, chess, and table tennis leagues, which will be spent on equipment, prizes for the best, fees for coaches and referees, etc. In addition, an additional 19,000 KM has been invested for the aforementioned equipping of the halls.
