Pale performance from the Dragons at Bilino Polje: Liechtenstein was overcome, but we must do much better against Iceland

(Patria) - The football national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated the Liechtenstein team tonight at Bilino Polje in Zenica in the 5th round of the European Championship qualifiers.

The Dragons, in a pale performance in the returning debut of coach Meho Kodro, celebrated with a 2:1 victory.

Until the end of the match, we literally had to worry about winning against one of the weakest national teams in Europe and the world.

Already in the 3rd minute, the BiH footballers took the lead. Bilbija found himself in a great position and assisted Džeko, who had no difficulty scoring from about ten meters.

The BiH team continued with attacks after the leading goal, but did not create serious chances until the 18th minute.

Then Bilbija ran a great counter-attack, passed to Džeko, who chipped the visiting goalkeeper. The ball went wide of the goal, but Luchinger deflected it into the net.

In the 21st minute, the entire Bilino Polje applauded Liechtenstein player Wolfinger. After a corner for his team, he met the ball with a volley from about 20 meters and scored a spectacular goal.

He received ovations from around 6,000 spectators.

The conceded goal did not cause panic among the Dragons, but they did not create any new opportunities until the end of the first half, and the score remained 2:1.

Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved its second victory in this qualifying cycle.

Bilbija had the first chance in the second half after a corner in the 50th minute, but Buchel saved.

After that, a lull continued, which was briefly interrupted by a Liechtenstein attempt in the 61st minute, but there was no change.

We saw almost nothing worth mentioning until the end of the match. We feared that a stray ball might end up behind Šehić, but fortunately, that did not happen.

In the 96th minute, the guests had a free kick, they crossed well, but fortunately, there was no major danger.

In the end, the score remained 2:1 and the Dragons recorded three new points.

On Monday, BiH will play away against Iceland, and there is no doubt that with such a performance, they will not be able to achieve a positive result there, writes SCsport.
