Bizarre Situation at the US Open: American Runs to Toilet Mid-Point

(Patria) - A bizarre situation was seen in the second-round match of the US Open between American Chris Eubanks and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi.

The fourth set was being played when Eubanks, with the score at 5-5, complained to the chair umpire that he had digestive issues.

The American tennis player asked the umpire if he could concede the game because he urgently needed to go to the toilet.

- If you penalise me for every point in the game, plus I take a bathroom break, how much time would that get me? So I sacrifice a game to go to the toilet - Eubanks asked the umpire.

- Now - the umpire replied.

- Yes, how much time would I get - Eubanks asked again.

- You wouldn't get much time - the umpire answered.

- I wouldn't? Not even for a game plus a bathroom break - Eubanks asked.

- You would have as much time as a break at 6-5 - the umpire replied.

After that conversation, Eubanks returned to the court and played a very quick game. He practically didn't even play the last point of the game, but started leaving the court while the ball was still in play.

Eubanks then ran off, took care of what he needed during the break, and returned to the court, winning a game to reach a tie-break, which he then lost 9-7.

Chris Eubanks ran off the court mid-rally, only to return with some new clothes. Earlier in the match, he had requested nausea medication from the umpire.
