Former and current footballers of Sarajevo today sought information on social networks about the fate of former teammate Damir Hadžić, who lives with his family in Želježno Polje, a place that suffered devastating destruction from landslides and floods. In a conversation with a journalist from the Patria news agency, Hadžić stated that he still does not know where his children and wife are, and that he is currently in a safe area near Želježno Polje.
- Last night the situation was calm, which is why I went to a friend in Golubinje this morning who hadn't answered his phone for two days. Since then, I haven't been able to return to the village of Ravne, where my family is. My wife is with two small children and there is no chance they can get out without a helicopter - says Hadžić.
The Patria news agency has learned that Hadžić's family is not among the 60 people in the barracks in Zenica, and that 300 people passed through this facility today. The head of the armed forces, Ante Jeleč, told NAP that helicopters are no longer flying.
- I am worried and I suspect they are in the group that is in Žepče, because these are mostly people who came on foot, but they couldn't have come down like that - added Hadžić, adding that he prays for the rain to stop and for no new landslides.
- I really don't know what to do. In any case, I hope they are well, because the lives of my children and family are my top priority. The last time I spoke to my father was when I asked him for my wife, to whom I tried to tell them they had to evacuate, but then the connection broke. If they were somewhere safe, they would have contacted me by now - added Hadžić.
We remind you that the BH news agency Patria (NAP) previously reported that former teammate Veldin Muharemović posted an appeal on his Facebook profile calling for Hadžić and a group of people from Želježno Polje to be rescued by helicopter.
- I managed to get in touch with Damir Hadžić, he crossed some small bridge to the safe side. Now there is no possibility for him to return to the other side to his family, where his wife is with two children, one of whom is a baby of a few months, whom he cannot contact at all - wrote Muharemović.
According to the information he received, it concerns the Ravne-Željeznopolje settlement where a group of residents are cut off from the rest of the world.
- Please help me spread the word so we can get a helicopter to go to Ravne-Željeznopolje and rescue these trapped people. Damir says the situation is alarming, that there are landslides everywhere. HELP PEOPLE!!! - wrote Muharemović.
According to information from local media, more than 50 people from Želježno Polje have arrived in Žepče, and about two hundred more have left the endangered area on foot. According to unconfirmed reports, an elderly woman died.
Hadžić, as we learned, contacted former teammate and captain of FK Sarajevo, Sedin Torlak, reports NAP. Hadžić is remembered by Sarajevo fans as the scorer of important goals, especially the one against Helsingborg in the Europa League.
